Entry Deadline: March 28, 2017

Show Dates: August 4 – September 20, 2017

The East End Arts Gallery is now accepting artist entries for their upcoming sixth annual national juried art competition and exhibit: Playing with PerspectiveGuest juror for this competition is Sara De Luca, the owner and director of ILLE ARTS gallery in Amagansett, NY. Entries selected by the juror will be included in the Playing with Perspectiveexhibition, scheduled to run from August 4 through September 20, 2017 at the East End Arts Gallery, located at 133 East Main Street in Riverhead, NY.

East End Arts Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: “Skillful use of perspective (or omitting perspective altogether) is a critical component in many great works of art and will be of utmost consideration for the entries accepted into this exhibit.” The East End Arts Gallery is now accepting entries online, which must be submitted by March 28, 2017 or by the late entry deadline of April 11, 2017 for an additional fee. Artists may enter a minimum of three and a maximum of five works for the same entry fee of $50. Entries are open to any two-dimensional media, including painting, drawing, original fine art prints, photography, and computer art. Original work only, no reproductions. No ‘appropriated’ elements, unless original artist is credited in the title of the piece. Due to shipping restrictions, artists submitting work must be from the contiguous United States (the lower 48 states and the District of Columbia). Artists will be notified of the juror’s decisions of inclusion in the show on or before June 2, 2017If accepted, artists must ship the selected artwork per East End Arts’ outlined shipping instructions, available online; failure to do so will prevent inclusion in the show.

Huntington Arts Council’s Invitational Gallery Shows

Huntington Arts Council‘s Main Street Gallery is embarking on a new schedule of exciting events that promises to include more artists by instituting a new program called Invitational Gallery Shows offering small groups of artists* the entire Main Street Gallery in which to show their work.

Since the gallery accommodates approximately 40 works, depending upon size, a considerable amount of wall space can be devoted to each artist with additional space for sculpture on pedestals. If, for instance, four artists are sharing the space, each one will be able to display approximately 10 works.

Invitational Gallery Shows will have plenty of cache’ with a Fridayevening show-opening reception** and will run for a period of two and a half weeks. You will also have the option of sitting with your show and inviting friends to view it from 12 to 4 pm on two Saturdays. HAC will publicize it through social media and on our website.

Specs are as follows:
2 artists – approx. 20 works per artist – $600 total @ $300 per artist
3 artists – approx. 13 works per artist – $600 total @ $200 per artist
4 artists – approx. 10 works per artist – $600 total @ $150 per artist
Larger established groups will be considered, upon request, on an individual basis based on scheduling availability. The Exhibition Committee will curate all Invitational Gallery Shows in an effort to present optimum artistic balance.

If you would like this opportunity to show your work in an Invitational Gallery Show, just click here to download the form, fill it out, mail it or drop it off with 10 to 15 images of your work on a CD, flash drive or photographs. Do not include any checks at this time. All requests for shows will be reviewed by the Exhibition Committee.

*  Must be a member of HAC or sign on as a member upon acceptance into an Invitational Gallery Show.

**  Refreshments are the responsibility of the artists. If you desire wine, the purchase of wine is the responsibility of the artists and a $36. NYS wine permit (procured by HAC) is also the responsibility of the artists.
