Call for Artists – Hispanic Heritage Month 2017

Long Island Arts Alliance, Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Bloomingdale’s and TD Charitable Foundation are pleased to announce a collaborative art exhibition to celebrate September’s National Hispanic Heritage Month at Bloomingdale’s Furniture Gallery. A Free Artists’ Reception is scheduled for Wednesday, September 13 at 6 PM in the Bloomingdale’s Furniture Gallery of Roosevelt Field Mall.

Exhibition Dates: September 13 – October 15

Selected artists will have their work featured in the Bloomingdale’s Furniture Gallery at the Roosevelt Field Mall from September 15th through October 15th.  One finalist will be chosen as the featured artist on the ArtsAliveli.org website during September and October.

This opportunity is open to Long Island based artists of Hispanic heritage.  Works can range in style from realism to abstract expressionism and may include landscapes, seascapes and other styles of traditional and contemporary art.  Work must be presented in two-dimensional media including painting, drawing, and photography.  All work must be framed and ready to hang securely on a wall and though there are few size restrictions, no work can be larger than 10′ x 10′.

Approximately 10 – 15 artists’ work will be chosen for display. There is no fee for entry. Artists retain 100% of the proceeds from sales of their work.

Application Guidelines

COPYRIGHT POLICY: By sharing your images with Long Island Arts Alliance, you confirm that: it is your original work and you own the rights to distribute the image; sharing it with Long Island Arts Alliance and granting a license in respect of its use as set out below will not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third party. You maintain all other rights to your image.

USE RIGHTS: Artists whose submissions are accepted for exhibition grant Long Island Arts Alliance the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition, marketing related programs, and subsequent display on the ArtsAliveLI.org websites, unless indicated otherwise. 

SALES: Artist wishing to offer their work for sale in the showroom can do so by providing the price of submitted entries. Artist retains 100% of the proceeds from sales of their work.

EXHIBITION DATES AND TIMES: September 13 – October 15, 2017. (Please note, the last day of the exhibit could be later in the month, which is better for the artists! We will let you know.)  There will be a FREE reception for the artists and their guests in the Bloomingdale’s Furniture Gallery on Wednesday, September 13 from 6-9 PM

INSTALLATION INFORMATION: Installation dates are to be determinded. Selected  artists will be notified of their set-up time. Works should be framed completely, including wires ready for hanging. Works will be delivered and installed by the artist. Bloomingdale’s will not provide insurance for artwork exhibited. Artists are responsible for insuring their works. (Please see Presentation Agreement & Liability)

Removal of Work Dates and Times: All work must be removed between 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM following the closing of the exhibition. Artist will be notified of their removal time. The artist is responsible for removal of their artwork.

PRESENTATION AGREEMENT and LIABILITY: All entries must be clean, framed and gallery ready. Exhibiting artist(s) must be present and will be required to work with a LIAA and Bloomingdale’s representative to hang, install and de‐install. LIAA and Bloomingdale’s undertake no responsibility for damages to artists’ property due to theft, loss, vandalism or weather. Artist is responsible for installing, packaging, shipping, delivering, removing, pick‐up, and insurance of work(s) during transport to and from and during the exhibition.

LIAA, LIHCC, TD and Bloomingdale’s have no responsibility for any damage or loss of artworks during shipping, exhibiting, removing, pick‐up and returning. This is the artist’s responsibility.

LIAA, LIHCC, TD and Bloomingdale’s will not provide insurance for artwork exhibited. The artist fully understands that, by this consent, the artist waives any and all claims that may exist in connection with the above.

LIAA, LIHCC, TD and Bloomingdale’s reserve the right to deem artwork inappropriate for this family oriented/public event.

Submission of work for this exhibit constitutes agreement with all terms and conditions stated above. Artist hereby assumes all risk associated with participation with the Hispanic Heritage 2017 exhibit and agrees to hold harmless LIAA, LIHCC, TD and Bloomingdale’s directors, employees, agents, representatives, counselors, volunteers, et al from and against any and all claims, demands, losses, or liability of any kind or nature that may arise.
