Looking for a way to brighten your March into Spring? A funny thing would be A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. This Tony award winning Broadway musical marches into Star Playhouse at the Suffolk Y JCC on March 5.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the show and eventual movie originally starred Zero Mostel.  But with a zero chance that he is still available, Glen Ames of Huntington has been cast as the ribald and raunchy Pseudolus, slave of Senex (Tim Conlon of Deer Park), yearning for his freedom and willing to do whatever or pay what little to achieve it. Billy Marengo of Northport is Hero, son of Pseudolus and Domina (Amanda Cataldo of Nesconsett) looking for love in all the wrong places, like the brothel run by neighbor Marcus Lycus (Solomon Buchman of East Northport). The object of his affections the lovely but still pristine cortisan Philia (Samantha Perkins of East Islip), is off the market, having been sold to Captain Milos Gloriosus (Kevin Callaghan of East Northport).  This farce, generates laughs from its well known opening number, Comedy Tonight, through its classic Everybody Ought To Have A Maid right to its slapstick Finale. The show is directed by Jim Redding of Patchogue and produced by Sandy Lory Snyder of Hauppauge.

As are all Star Playhouse productions, the show is accompanied by a full live orchestra, lavishly costumed and performed on a Broadway style set.  Star Playhouse, located at the Suffolk Y-JCC, 74 Hauppauge Road, Commack is handicapped accessible, has ample free parking and a Personal Listening System for the hearing impaired.

Ticket prices are $24, $19 for seniors and students. Group rates are available.

Tickets may be ordered online through Ticketfly (), or by calling , 107 or 136.
