This 50-minute film explores Marc Chagall’s roots in Vitebsk, which are so strongly reflected in his art. From his earliest years, Chagall’s work was drawn from the sights, legends and heritage of his Russian-Jewish village. The film demonstrates how, throughout his career, Chagall was creating dreamlike visions of humans, animals and Russian village scenes, all employing the expressive power of color.
