Steve Adelson: Artist of the Month

Description

Steve Adelson is considered one of the premier Chapman Stick players in the world. With this unique instrument,  Mr. Adelson simultaneously plays melodies, harmonies, bass lines, rhythms and improvs using tapping techniques he’s developed based on inventor Emmett Chapman’s discoveries.

Steve has many recordings including CDs, videos, tutorial DVDs and a method book with Mel Bay publications. His latest CD entitled “Sonic Imagination” features guests Rachel Z, Chieli Minucci, Oz Noy and Frank Vignola.

Steve has taught and performed internationally over a four decade career.

He was recently included as the only Stick player in a book called “The Great Jazz Guitarists”. Steve is also the producer of the annual 

The LBJF now in its thirteenth year has brought some of the world’s greatest musicians to Long Beach. The free four day festival in September has showcased an impressive roster including Stanley Jordan, Charlie Hunter, Omar Hakim, Rachel Z, Chieli Minucci with Special EFX,  Frank Vignola,  Bucky Pizzarelli, Rod Morgenstein,  Edmar Castaneda, George Cables and many more.
